Today our students met Mr. Wolfgang Preuss, IPR & Brand Protection Support Legal Counsel PPP EMEA, Germany. The topic of discussion was a trademarks and intellectual property rights protection. Trademarks promote initiative and enterprise worldwide by rewarding their owners with recognition and financial profit. Trademark protection also hinders the efforts of unfair competitors, such as counterfeiters, to use similar distinctive signs to market inferior or different products or services.

Presentation of the book “Intelligence and Compassion in Action” by Dr. Lauren Speeth

WIUU’s representatives visited the presentation of the book “Intelligence and Compassion in Action” by the founder of The Elfenworks Foundation, Dr. Lauren Speeth, who lives the lessons she teaches in this book daily, the insights within these pages have come from Speeth’s years of experience in technology, management, and the nonprofit world, as well as from insights gained in interviews with extraordinary social entrepreneurs. The Seven Pillars can be of help in any cause you choose to embrace, from poverty and inequality, to health and safety, or any number of daunting issues.

Lecture by Dr. Oxana Wieland “Financial Literacy – Your first step to a successful career” for WIUU’s students.

Dr. Wieland has an interest in teaching and research in the areas of Social Finance, Finance, Financial Markets, Socially Responsible Investing, Micro Finance and teaching methodology.  Dr. Wieland also enjoys fine art, and has recently developed an interest in bee keeping.

Cooperation with Georgia

In the end of March Wisconsin International University Ukraine was visited by the Director of Georgian-American International School ‘Progress’ in Georgia (Tbilisi, Kutaisi , Batumi) Nina Chikvashvili. Our joint plans for cooperation were discussed and WIUU is open to invite Georgian students from Progress for Academic Year 2017-2018.

Today we are talking with Michelle Christopherson,  the Director of Admissions at the University of Minnesota Crookston.Christopherson has served on a number of committees over her last 17 years at the U of M Crookston.  She is responsible for campus recruitment, campus leadership in enrollment management, non-traditional and online student support services, outreach activities, and rural economic development.

There are many opportunities for international students at the University of Minnesota.

This April we met with a delegation from the University of Minnesota, Crookston.

Introducing our guests:

Kristina Gray, Adjunct Writing Instructor, 1998-2000 Fulbright Scholar in Kyiv, Ukraine. For combined 15 years have lived and taught English courses in Philippines, China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. Author of several historical books with Arcadia Press about hometown of Crookston, Minnesota and also writes newspaper articles on local history.

Dr. Wieland has been working at the University of Minnesota Crookston Campus for eight years, teaching in area of Economics and Finance for 25 years.  She has served on a number of committees over the eight years and is currently a member of the Award Committee Advisory Board in Diversity at UMC.  Dr. Wieland has an interest in teaching and research in the areas of Social Finance, Finance, Financial Markets, Socially Responsible Investing, Micro Finance and teaching methodology.  Dr. Wieland also enjoys fine art, and has recently developed an interest in bee keeping.
